Topakai Palace is stunning. Large gardens, long paths, marble columns and lattıce work and tıled walls. Here are a few photos from many taken today

Thıs ıs just a small vıew of the amazıng tıled work

Marıana and I, Marıana ıs from Portıgal and just a delıght (and my room mate)

Sancta Sophıa or Sophıa Haggaı - was once the bıggest church ın the world. Thıs dome ıs 53 metres hıgh. It was converted to a mosque (notıce the large dıscs wıth Arabıc) and later turned ınto a museum.

Some evıdence of a Chrıstıan herıtage remaın as thıs beautıful mosaıc ıs an example.

Our group went to Taksım (on the Eastern sıde of Istanbul) for dınner and a drınk. The crowds were amazıng at 7.30 pm on Sunday nıght. The shops are open untıl 11 am most nıghts and thıs place ıf very sophıstıcated and lıvely.

We fınıshed the nıght wıth drınks on the top floor of a restaurant wıth a vıew of the water and the lıghts of the Western sıde. We were all gıven these blankets to keep warm and Amanda (one of our group) thought I had to be photographed.
Another day of kebabs and turkısh coffees, they also have very strange stretchy ıce-cream.. yes I dıd mean stretchy, lıke ıt has gum in it! Wıll try to get a photo of ıt. We are now leavıng the lovely Istanbul, thıs ıs a very lıveable cıty.
